Who we are.

Dreaming Australia is a community initiative by a group of senior elders and holders of story and song for Central Australia. We believe we must preserve our law, language and identity, and we must integrate with the technology and ideas of the modern world by finding culturally appropriate ways of moving forward together.

What we do.

Our Aim: To share ancient knowledge of the land in exchange to learn the skills required to develop in the modern world in a way that is sustainable and self-determined.

Our work: The focus of our work is self-activation and community building through art and practical sciences. We bring motivated artists, educators, and business people into the community. Through their encounters with story and song holders for the country we are creating a new kind of art and an energised youth.

Our vision: A generation of young people who will become the cultural ambassadors of a new dreaming, a Dreaming Australia of indigenous, non-indigenous and multicultural Australia.

Our Story

Dreaming Australia began in Central Australia on the remote homeland communities in Central Australia and has since grown in scale. Linking to the East Coast centres and internationally (China).

We have conducted outreach from Central Australia into non-indigenous communities through partnership with local Aboriginal story holders.

Participating Elders

Includes story and song holders from Walpieri, Kaytej & Arrernte tribes of Central Australian Desert (Alice Springs).
